The only trilogy that will keep you sane during these endless spates of lockdown (and in life) are: “Good over evil”, “Light over darkness” and “Books over idly moping around the house”. Words have an almost magical power to move the world and if it says a happily ever after is a possibility, my advice would be: Surrender to the notion. The journey from “It’s just another book with a happy ending” to “This book is my true-blue pal” can be covered in a matter of a few pages. Here are our top picks.
A popular classic novel by Jane Austen is a timeless romance that will not only restore your faith in a happy ending but also give you enough reasons to certitude in the most beautiful human emotion, love! Set in rural England, the story traces the love-hate relationship of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Fitzwillion Darcy, which goes through several twists and turns as their families accompany them on this journey. Published in 1813, the novel is way ahead of its time and a perfect read for people who are really interested in romantic books with a happy ending.

"Sometimes life hides gifts in the darkest of places", the excerpt from the book written by Lucy Maud Montgomery in 20th-century Canada is proof that emotional turmoils eventually ends in good spirits. An ageless children's classic, it's the story of a young orphan Anne Shirley who finds herself in Green Gables owned by unmarried siblings Marilla and Mathew Cuthbert only to discover that they wanted a boy in the first place.
Hurt and disheartened, her quirky, full of imagination and brave self, rolls up her sleeves and finally makes her place in the family. In a weird way, it is one of those humorous books that we all love to read. The book doesn't stop here, there are 8 more books stacked with Anne's adventures and as popular as the first one.

A contemporary adaptation of Shakespeare's The Taming Of The Shrew written by Anne Tyler in 2016 is a real long-haul towards a happy ending. Set in present-day Baltimore, the dilemma picks up pace when Kate Battista's father, an eccentric scientist, bring forth a proposal to marry his lab assistant Pyotr as a ploy to get him a green card. Surprised and hesitant, Kate reevaluates her thoughts on love and life as she moves along with her father's suggestion and finally succumbs to her happily-ever-after. Tyler's love for surprising curves and roadblocks will make sure that this book leaves a delightful after-taste.

I can't stress enough that this book will take you to the top of the world and probably leave you there for good. The Sunlit Night is a romantic novel by Rebecca Dinerstein with a purpose to rediscover love and light. Frances and Yasha, the two pillars and protagonists of this book, who have no idea of each other's existence in New York climb their way through personal traumas and setbacks only to bump into each other in Lofoten, a mesmerising Archipelago in Norway. Rescuing each other from their respective problems, they form an unlikely connection that will stick with you for the rest of your life. Not ideal but in a perspective this novel sure has a happy ending.

The first rule to choosing your next novel is to not judge the book by its cover. And also, the title may not tell you the whole story is a close second. From Paulo Coelho’s entire bibliography, this is my numero uno recommendation — even though you have to go through the worst to reach a happy ending. The story begins when Veronika decides to die but ends with clear salvation and respect for life. Written in 1998, it is a book full of poetic hope

If the above recommendation did not hit the sweet spot, The DUFF, short for Designated Ugly Fat Friend will definitely do the trick. A young adult novel by Kody Keplinger is also one of those books that have been turned into movies. When High School student Bianca Piper is referred to as The DUFF by a student name Wesley Crusher, her life took a turn - with an ultimate happily-ever-after.

If happily-ever-after exists only in books, it's time to pick yours!
