Are you bored with the basic 3 strand braid and wish to experiment with a different one? Fret not, we are here for the rescue. We give you a step by step guide on how to make a Dutch braid. It might seem complicated at first but, trust me there is nothing you can't achieve when practice, practice and practice is your mantra. A Dutch braid is known as reverse French Braid. You can rock this uber-chic braid with a street look or a gym/workout hour when you wish to your hair of off your face.

Follow These Steps To The Classic Dutch Braid:

1. Get started by dividing the upper section into 3 strands

Divide the upper section of your hair. Bring that section all the way back towards the crown portion of your head. Divide this section into 3 equal strands.

2. Braid the right section under the middle one and left under the right one

Start off by pulling the right section under the middle one swapping right, then pull the left under the right section, swapping left into the middle.

3. Keep adding extra hair to each strand while you continue braiding

The key to transforming a basic braid into an actual dutch braid is after the first knot, start to pull another section of hair from the leftover/extra hair on sides. Add them to the sections being braided to combine with the original one. Keep repeating the same until you reach the nape of your neck.

4. Finish off by the basic 3-strand braid until your hair length

Once you reach the nape of your neck and run out of extra hair to incorporate to the main section, bring the hair forward and continue braiding your hair in a regular 3 strand braid until the length of your hair. Finish off with a hair tie to secure the braid in place and you'll be good to go. Tug and pull on the braid to make it look bigger and voluminous. Lock in with some hairspray and voila!
