If your saree goals were set by Main Hoon Na ki Sushmita Sen, you need this. More than any other ethnic attire, sarees have stood the course of time and came out a winner. Of course, the styles and trends have changed over the years. The '70s saw floral Indian motifs and border-pallu situations, the '90s were dedicated to satin and chiffon sarees with high-neck blouses and the last decade was mostly about net sarees.

Fast-forward to 2024, and we're still excited about sarees. However, you need an update. Check out the latest saree trends and saree designs of the year.

Latest saree designs of 2024!

1. Floral embroidery sarees

Think Karishma Kapoor at Alia Bhatt's wedding. Floral embroideries have taken over the saree trends of 2024, and it's glorious. Of all the latest saree designs we know of, this one is our personal favourite. The intricate detailing, craftsmanship and sheer beauty, is bespoke. If you're hoping to follow this pattern, we highly suggest net sarees.

2. Colour Block sarees

A saree with a splash of colours is the perfect outfit for summer 2024. It's refreshing, different, and quite frankly, delightful. Since colour blocking is detailing in itself, accessorising can be kept to minimal.

3. Organza sarees

In a love-hate relationship with silk sarees? We found the perfect saree trend for you: Organza! They look just like silk but are less shiny, lighter and easier to carry. They offer a matte-like finish that definitely looks ultrasophisticated. Depend on this saree design for weddings or classy office dinners.

Full disclosure: Multi-colour saree design is the one to beat. Any party, wedding or otherwise, these sarees stand out, just like you. We adore this saree trend by Sabyasachi and hello, Deepika Padukone is totally pulling it off. The great news is that these beautiful sarees are available at wholesale markets like Sarojini Nagar and Santa Cruz.

5. Pastel sarees in silk

Silk sarees are timeless! And it looks like pastels aren't going away anytime soon. A pastel saree in silk is a dreamy wedding outfit that translates subtlety and class. This saree design is readily available in markets, and you have an opportunity to add as many family heirlooms (gold jewellery) as you want.

6. Net sarees

Net sarees are back, and they're more elegant than ever. Zari, Zardari detailing, heavy borders, deep-neck blouses... this saree design is the showstopper of 2024. Our very own Bollywood child: Alia Bhatt, made headlines with her off-white net saree at her wedding. And even if it's plain, net sarees always look stunning and glamourous. We recommend you to hop on to this saree trend STAT!

7. Ruffle sarees

With a foine saree trend as good as ruffles, you don't need fancy blouses or heavy jewellery to back your ensemble. Ruffles have been on our radar for quite some time now, and they're beautiful. The layer, the texture, and the flair are unmatched by any other saree design. Our advice; always pick a sequin blouse with a plain ruffle saree.

9. Monotone it

A single shade - as powerful as black or red - can make a fashion statement louder than the splashes of bolder colours. If your personal style leans towards minimalistic, monotoning your saree is a terrific option. It's classier, tasteful, and easy to carry.

10. Add a statement neckpiece

If too much detailing is not your thing, go for lighter and more comfy saree designs... and add layered statement neckpieces. They're good for any occasion, casual, work, or wedding, and they look particularly great with deep v-neck blouses.

11. Belt it up

Belts are in. Whether it's mom jeans, dresses or sarees, belts are completing every look with style and panache. However, pairing a saree with an embellished statement belt will go a long way. It's the latest saree trend, which is now available as a set at ethnic stores near you.

12. It's white or nothing

Bollywood actresses have owned white sarees for generations - Waheeda Rehman, Sharmila Tagore, Hema Malini or Rekha. It's a fairytale saree trend you can recreate with different types of sarees. If it was us, we'd go for organza or net.

The latest blouse designs your sarees need!

1. Saree with balloon-sleeved blouse

This saree trend is a definite "win-win". Inspired by Sonam Kapoor Ahuja's floral saree by Masaba Gupta, we love the quirk and layering added by the bell sleeves. The ensemble works great even if the saree is plain and simple, while the opportunity for accessorising is immense. This saree trend has definitely redefined the traditional concept.

2. Saree with a corset blouse

Never underestimate the significance of blouse detailing. Since corsets are dominating the fashion trends of 2024, it only makes sense to include them in the latest saree trends. Any saree design - tissue, net, organza or chiffon - can be revamped with a tasteful corset. At the end of the day, it's all about carrying an outfit with confidence!

3. Printed peplum blouse

The peplum style blouses are trending this season, and we couldn't be more excited. Even if sarees are not your thing, this saree trend will change your mind. It's very stylish and contemporary.

4. Bling it on

Bollywood's hottest designer sarees are now making headlines with beautiful sequin blouses. They exude glamour and style that is tasteful and admirable. These blouses are a stunner, and they agree with the latest saree trends like chiffon, net, and embroidered. Pick this saree look for close wedding shindigs.

5. V are all for it!

Deep neck blouses are all the rage in 2024. The design looks particularly ravishing with puff three-fourth sleeves or full-on bell sleeves. The sweet neckline teams nicely with see-through saree trends like net, chiffon, and organza. Add a beaded necklace to the ensemble for an elegant feel.

6. Full-sleeve embellished blouse

Your saree wouldn't have to work hard if a long-sleeve embellished blouse does its job. Ready available at local markets near you, these blouses are meant to be backless with a boat/high neckline.

7. Knot your average blouse design

Back bow knots are adorable, especially on blouses. Inspired by the top fashion bloggers, the blouse design offers a great saree trend for 2024 without having to spend another buck on new sarees. Pick a plain, solid shade (minimal detailing will work too) and pair it with a back bowknot blouse for a chic look.
