The lockdown had an expanding effect on the world of beauty. A number of things we previously considered out of reach without professional aid were successfully performed at home. From DIY home spa kits to facials in your bedroom, beauty became a lot more accessible to the general population, and less riddled with the need for scheduling an appointment at a high-end salon.

But while certain beauty treatments like giving your hair a trim, turned out to be a lot easier to do on your own, there are still a number of beauty and care areas, that mandate the presence of an expert.

It's still a battle for survival but there are some things you cannot avoid. So here are 5 beauty treatments, that are worth visiting salons for.

1. Shaping your brows

If you've never experienced the trauma of accidentally shaving off half your left eyebrow, it's not hard to see why you might think of shaping your own brows as easy-peasy-lemon-squeazy. But as someone who has let me tell you, it's difficult-difficult-difficult.

While light trimming with a pair of scissors, or even careful tweezing is relatively less complicated to pull off, it's also highly likely that you won't end up with the perfect eyebrow symmetry you've grown to value. So sure, go ahead and snip off the heavy over-growth, but for proper shaping, you should definitely wait for a visit to a salon.

2. Trendy hair dyeing

By trendy, we are referring to those evidently more complicated, like ombre style or dip-dyes. While it's inadvisable to dye your hair at home at all, touching up your greys is considerably different from pulling off artistic hair colours with your own two hands.

Keeping everything aside, your arms can only reach around so much, and the finish you'd get at a salon is undoubtedly worth a few extra bucks.

3. Chemical straightening or rebonding

You see how this can go horribly wrong, right? Any beauty treatment that involves the use of heavy chemicals, is highly inadvisable to try on your own.

And when it's your precious locks at stake, a salon appointment will be worth the payoff, as well as the long term advantages. Even if you do manage to get your hair looking the way you want it to, there's always the looming danger of getting chemicals into your eyes or causing skin damage. So suffice it to say, this is an area you should trust a skilled expert with.

4. Artsy manicures

As most of us who've attempted this at home are aware of already, pulling off a manicure by yourself is super-easy. As long as you just want it on one hand. A lot of us can pull of impeccable nail art on the hand opposite to our dominant one, but when it comes to the other one, it's a whole lot of nail polish remover, cotton pads, and messy scenarios. So really, for an elegant French manicure, or intricate nail art designs, you should always place your faith in a nail pro.

5. Chemical facial peels

Just don't, please? The stakes are way too high when you're trying to apply a chemical peel on your face, because any potential damage will never be worth it. You can go ahead, and use plenty of face masks, but the minute chemicals come into the picture, your bets should be placed on someone skilled and experienced in the domain.

Special mention, pedicures. You can pull off a pedicure by yourself easily, sure. But everybody deserves the relaxation that comes with someone else doing it for you. Isn't that the whole point of getting one, anyway?
