I discovered this TV show not too long back, and honestly fail to understand why it isn't more hyped. Lovesick is absolutely hilarious and heartwarming in equal measure, it's a show that leaves you feeling light. Revolving around a trio of friends, the show kicks off when Dylan finds out he has an STD, and now must get in touch with every woman he has ever been with. The script is fresh and intelligent, and the dry British sense of humour makes it a laugh riot on more than one occasion. Lovesick is the perfect cocktail of comedy, romance and originality, and definitely deserves more fame than it has received so far.

One of the latest TV shows to sprout up on Netflix India, Anne with an E is a beautiful show with stunning vintage cinematography, that touches base on some serious issues with the aid of crisp, engaging storytelling. The storyline is heartfelt and emotional, and brought to life wonderfully by the cast members and their remarkable performances. Anne with an E deals with many social issues from history that continue to be relevant in today's day and age, like bullying, racism and prejudice through a thought-provoking lens. Also, the musical score is so stunning it instantly transports you to a different era!

I recently finished watching all the episodes of Dead To Me, and now I'm a loyal fan. Seriously, it's that good. Particularly for those of you who love a good helping of dark humour, this tragi-comedy will strike a chord with its deadpan jokes and witty quips. The show also has some thriller and mystery elements thrown into the mix, and somehow the combination works out brilliantly. Also, the cast members did a phenomenal job with their roles, and Christina Applegate is a delight to watch on screen!
Diane Ruggiero-Wright, Rob Thomas
Rose McIver, Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli

One of the best underrated TV shows on Netflix India, the lack of fanfare around this one makes zero sense. We know how over-done the genre of zombie-horror is, so the freshness of iZombie as a Netflix show is definitely a pleasant surprise. The story is simple but extremely well-written, and all the episodes are packed with wit and quirk. Its one of those TV shows you begin to randomly watch without any expectations but find yourself obsessed with, just a couple of episodes later.

There are just too many high-school dramas out in the world of entertainment, but On My Block stands its ground with its originality. It's got all the usual components of a show depicting the turbulent world of teenage, but it manages to infuse hearty humour, heartfelt emotions and crisp, intelligent dialogues into the mix. On My Block strikes the perfect balance between light-hearted scenes and realistic takes on some serious issues that the youth deal with.
Victor Fresco
Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant, Liv Hewson

As a huge Drew Barrymore fan, I didn't really need any other reason to watch the show. But one episode in, and I found several reasons to continue bingeing it. For starters, it makes you experience a very unique emotion, a blend of disgust and side-splitting humour. Santa Clarita Diet gets absurd on several occasions, but the script and the acting make it an awesome watch through and through. The characters are charming and hilarious, and the show successfully achieves the impossible, making you laugh just as hard in every single episode.

Dallas Roberts, Debby Ryan, Christopher Gorham

Funny, dramatic, and extremely real, Insatiable is a must-watch TV show on Netflix India, that doesn't get nearly enough credit. This show deals with several concerns that don't usually occupy the centre stage in mainstream entertainment, like weight struggles, self-esteem issues, bullying and recovery. The wit, humour and charm of the show and its characters are absolutely top-notch, and the performances backed by a well-written, youthful script.

Straddling the middle point between drama and comedy, Everything Sucks is packed with an excellent cast, exceptional performances, and the right dose of nostalgia at perfect moments. This is one of the best underrated TV shows on Netflix India, that no 90s kid should miss out on. All the characters of the show are extremely lovable, and the struggles of adolescence are portrayed by the show in a relatable, honest and extremely heart-touching manner.

One of the top-picks on most lists of underrated shows on Netflix India, Atypical is not just entertaining but extremely important. It revolves around an 18-year-old who falls on the autism spectrum, and his unique life challenges. It highlights a topic that's immensely underrepresented in cinema, and does so with staggering accuracy and authenticity. Atypical makes you think, it makes you smile warmly at your screen, and on certain occasions makes you sob like a baby.
Kevin Hench
Gloria Aung, Gabriel Iglesias, Sherri Shepherd

Mr Iglesias can get corny and fluffy sometimes, but that's something all of us could use a bit more of these days, no? Just good-hearted humour and warm interactions. The TV show is also full of political takes, and without trying too hard ends up leaving you a tad more woke than when you first started watching it. If nothing else watch it for the stellar comedian that Gabriel Iglesias is!
Marta Kauffman, Howard J. Morris
Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Sam Waterston

One of the most brilliant and mature TV shows on Netflix India right now, Grace and Frankie has the sense of realism and charm that a lot of content tends to fall short on these days. Centred around an unbelievably hysterical and difficult situation wherein two women find out that their husbands are cheating on them with each other, this show is a heartfelt comedy dealing with growth, solidarity and friendship between the unlikeliest of people.
Francesca Delbanco, Nicholas Stoller
Keegan-Michael Key, Cobie Smulders, Annie Parisse

Mostly funny, sometimes awkward, and always super-easy to watch, Friends From College is the perfect dramedy to unwind with. The writing is top-notch, and the story is brimming with moments that make you laugh out loud and shake your head fondly. The characters are definitely flawed, and that is what adds to the reliability of this show. Long story short, Friends From College is super underrated, and deserves to on your To-Watch list!
David Javerbaum, Chuck Lorre
Kathy Bates, Aaron Moten, Elizabeth Alderfer
6.8/10

To be entirely honest, as long as Kathy Bates is the lead in a show, I'll watch it. In this one, she plays the role of a scatterbrained stoner who runs a marijuana dispensary in Los Angeles. As you can imagine, every episode is downright hysterical and has the perfect brand of slow, smoker humour that makes you chuckle uncontrollably. The story is sensational and dynamic, and adopts a funny medium to address some important issues around legalisation.
Jennie Snyder Urman
Gina Rodriguez, Andrea Navedo, Yael Grobglas

Refreshing, dramatic and ultra underrated, Jane The Virgin is hands-down one of the best drama TV Shows on Netflix India at the moment. The lead character is adorable and does a fantastic job of bringing a seemingly bizarre story to life in an honest manner. The show is a rollercoaster of emotions, and the plotline is thoroughly entertaining to follow till the very end. It's a typical telenovela but with a contemporary touch that keeps you hooked!
Michael Schur
Kristen Bell, William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil

A fantastic and well-written TV show with some strong moral messages, The Good Place is as underhyped as it is unmissable. The cast is an odd mix of personalities but somehow work together beautifully to create an entertaining watch. One of the best underrated TV shows on Netflix India, this one is intelligent, funny, quirky and thought-provoking. Especially if you're dealing with some grief of your own, The Good Place is the perfect show to replenish some of your optimism with!

You could be a Family Guy person, or a hardcore Simpsons fan, but F Is for Family will find it's way into your heart one episode at a time. The animation is uber-cool, and the voice acting absolutely phenomenal. It's a brutally honest show that sheds light on some very relatable family dynamics, and there's a lot more than what meets the eye to the characters of this show. The humour is unlike anything you might have experienced in an animated show before.
Ben Palmer, Gordon Anderson, Damon Beesley, Iain Morris
Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison

Once a classic, always a classic! The Inbetweeners might be an underrated Netflix show for our generation, but take our word for it, there isn't a single dull moment in any of the episodes. It's a crazy show based on the life of four friends who transition to adulthood from adolescence together. Its also full of laughs, and the show is extremely cleverly written. It can be crude and cringy occasionally, but the comedy is pure, unadulterated gold!
Graham Linehan
Chris O'Dowd, Richard Ayoade, Katherine Parkinson

If there's a perfect TV show for techies, it's the IT crowd. It's full of absurdist satire, and the show is one of the best UK comedies to ever grace our screens. The characters are extremely well-developed, each with their own unique charm that makes you fall in love. The humour is dry and witty, and the sarcasm is simply unparalleled. Seriously, its a barrel full of laughs and under no circumstances should one miss this show!
Tucker Cawley
Dennis Quaid, Bridgit Mendler, Brent Morin

Even if you're not one for stereotypical holiday-season entertainment, Merry Happy Whatever is too feel-good a show to skip. The first episode might not impress you all that much, but stick around and you will find yourself delightfully surprised. The whole cast is great together, and the show gets you in the holiday spirit before you see it coming!
