These Positive Facts Will Remind You Of The World's Progress In Fighting COVID-19

Yes, yes we know. A global health crisis isn't meant to be taken positively. Things are serious, the current pandemic is serious, and life from here on, is very, very serious. Cool, understood, but here's a question. Are we really not allowed to divert our mind for a fraction of time during the day, and feel thankful about the good things that are still happening on Earth, even in the face of a global disease outbreak? 

 

 

With our social media feeds, and news dashboards being flooded day in and day out with the latest COVID-19 figures and recent stats that always seem to be on the incline, it's easy to develop a uni-dimensional, largely pessimistic perspective. Which is why, here's a list of some positive things that also happened in the last couple of days, but reached very few due to lack of coverage. Because honestly, the world could really use some optimism right about now.

1. Last week, Chinese media reported the full recovery of a 103-year-old woman in Wuhan, after 6 days of being treated for the COVID-19 infection 

 

2. 5 days ago, China celebrated  the closure of its last Coronavirus hospital, because of the lack of new cases 

 

3. 5 days ago, Delhi's 1st Coronavirus patient recovered fully and got discharged from the hospital, leaving a parting message of "Don't be afraid" 

 

4. Doctors in India have successfully used a combination of HIV, Swine Flu, and Malaria drugs (Lopinavir, Retonovir, Oseltamivir & Chlorphenamine) to cure two Italian COVID-19 patients. The same treatment is now being suggested globally, on a case by case basis. 

 

 

5. Cleveland's MetroHealth Medical Center has successfully developed a COVID-19 test that gives results in hours, instead of days 

 

6. A team of Canadian scientists successfully isolated the COVID-19 virus, which means it can now be replicated to test diagnostics, treatments, and vaccines

 

7. Moderna Inc. began the first stage of a clinical trial for a new experimental vaccine against COVID-19 

 

8. Apple re-opened all 43 of its stores in China!

 

There, it's not all bad now, is it? It's understandable if things begin to appear bleak, but whenever they do, remind yourself of the small but impactful progresses humanity is making on a regular basis, against the COVID-19 outbreak. With the entire globe putting up a unanimous fight, we are sure things will sooner or later, turn around for the better.
