3. Modern Mumbai: Walking through the 20th Century

If heritage walks are your thing and the developments of mankind and city life intrigues you then we've found one of the most curious workshops you'll love to attend. Not every hobby has to be a physical one as most of us get very excited to digest real-time stories about our city. It's time to Explore Mumbai on a walking tour while unwinding histories - the stories that lie behind, around, within the building, streets and spaces so familiar to us today. Beginning with city improvements and development following the deadly Plague epidemic of the late 19th century, this walk highlights critical moments in the making of modern Mumbai. From the high of Art Deco to darker, largely untold, histories of corruption, appropriation, and inefficiency, from grating missed opportunities in urban planning post-independence to our ongoing romance with reclamation, this walk explores planning, architecture, and roads not taken in the building of the city we experience today.

Get ready as Carvan Trips takes you for an epic heritage ride down the historic lanes of South Mumbai! Cycling is one of the best ways to explore these parts of town as everything is nearby; the streets are in excellent condition. We all might have whiz past through these colonial heritage structures at some point, wondered for a second about them, and then probably went on with our busy city lives. However, these structures reveal a different story as we time travel to the era of Portuguese and the British! The brown washed colonial structures provide a heady mix of beauty, history & nostalgia. The best part is end your epic ride at a Heritage Bar with a chilled beer, On the House!
