Busy day, midnight cravings or guests coming over, one meal to embrace all. You see, snacks are universal. You visit any country, city, household and there will be snacks to satiate your hunger. If you ask me, small portions of food spread over twelve hours a day is much better than binge eating the entire pantry in a single go. And don't even get me started on the sheer variety. There's something for every occasion, every time of the day and every heart.
Now, the good news. There are a lot of delicious snacks that takes only 10 minutes. Lucky for you, here's a list of a whole bunch of quick snacks you can make in that time limit. Bon appetite!
Quick Indian Easy Snacks
1. Aloo Chaat
Medley of Indian spices on the most humble vegetable of all time, potato. Aloo chaat is a nifty snack that can be prepared in less than 10 minutes. Make this tangy Indian healthy snack at home for a good time.

Ingredients
For Chaat:
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp red chilli
- 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mango powder (amchur powder)
- 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
- Black salt/white salt as per taste
- 1 tbsp finely chopped mint leaves
- 2 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
- 1 green chilli (finely chopped)
- 1 tbsp sweet tamarind chutney
- 1 to 2 tsp lemon juice
Steps
- Peel and dice the potato in small finger-sized pieces.
- Fry them under medium-low heat until golden brown.
- Toss them in a bowl and add all the ingredients listed above under "For Chaat".
- Give the mix a nice stir and serve hot.
2. Dahi Puri
Pani puri with the "pani" that splatters is another great idea for a quick snack. Super easy to make and once prepped, ingredients can be used over and over again until your heart is fulfilled at home.

Ingredients
- 8 Puris (Gol Gappa)
- 1/2 cup boiled & chopped potatoes
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 2 & 1/2 tbsp tamarind chutney
- 1 & 1/2 tsp green chutney
- 1/2 tsp garlic chutney (optional)
- 1/2 cup beaten curd
- 1/4 cup sev
- Chopped coriander to garnish
Steps
- Break open the puris and add 1 tbsp chopped and boiled potatoes and 1/2 tbsp chopped onions to each of them.
- Drizzle 1 tsp tamarin chutney, 1/2 tsp green chutney and 1/4 tsp garlic chutney over it.
- Pour 1 tbsp curd and sprinkle some sev and coriander leaves on each puri. Voila, your dahi puris are ready to eat.
3. Paneer Pakoras
Any paneer dish is always a great grub. This quick Indian snack recipe doesn't take more than 10 minutes but the effects last for a lifetime. It's also a good conversation starter for when guests are over at your place.

Ingredients
- 150 grams of paneer cut into squares
- 1 cup besan
- 1 pinch turmeric powder
- 1 to 2 pinches of red chilli powder or cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)
- 1 to 2 pinches of garam masala powder
- 1 pinch asafetida (hing)
- salt as required
- 2/3 to 3/4 cup water
- Ghee/oil to fry
Steps
- Take a bowl and add 1 cup besan.
- Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, carom seeds, garam masala, hing and salt as per the instructions.
- Give it a proper whisk and start pouring water in parts.
- Now follow the mix and cut technique to make a slightly thick batter.
- Heat a pan and add around 1-2 cups of ghee/oil. Wait till it's hot.
- Now set the flame to medium, dip diced paneer pieces in the batter and unleash them in the hot ghee/oil.
- Let it turn golden brown and crispy. Serve hot with green/red/both chutneys.
4. Bhel Puri
I've seen my dad fix a delish plate of bhel puri every time he is craving spicy street food. You can add almost anything and it still tastes like a warm hug.

Ingredients
- 2 cup murmura / puffed rice
- 1/2 onion (finely chopped)
- 1/2 potato / aloo (boiled & cubed)
- 3 papdi (crushed)
- 3 tbsp mixture
- 2 tbsp fried peanuts
- 2 tbsp tomato (finely chopped)
- 1/2 tsp chaat masala
- 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp tamarind chutney
- 2 tbsp green chutney
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp sev
- 1 tsp coriander
Steps

In a large mixing bowl take 2 cups murmura.

Add 1/2 onion, 1/2 potato, 3 crushed papdi, 3 tbsp mixture and 2 tbsp fried peanuts.

Also add 2 tbsp tomato, 1/2 tsp chaat masala, 1/4 tsp chilli powder and 1/4 tsp salt.

Mix well to make sure the spices are combined well.

Further add 3 tbsp tamarind chutney, 2 tbsp green chutney and 1 tsp lemon juice.

Add 2 tbsp sev and give a mix.

Finally, enjoy bhel puri topped with a few crushed papdi and garnished with onion, coriander.
5. Poha
Originally a breakfast dish, Poha is also a delectable Indian snack that can be cooked in 10 minutes. But the best part about this recipe is - as soon as you get the hang of it, you can prep and eat it under those 10 mins.

Ingredients
- 1½ cup poha/flattened rice
- 1 onion medium
- 12-14 curry leaves
- 2 green chilli
- ¼ cup raw peanuts
- 1 teaspoon mustard/rai seeds
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric/haldi powder
- 2 tablespoons refined oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Fresh coriander for garnishing
- salt to taste
Steps
- In a sieve add poha and rinse it thoroughly with water. Add some sugar and gently give it a mix.
- Let the poha rest for some time, till we prepare the rest of the ingredients.
- In a pan over medium flame, add raw peanuts and dry roast them for 3-4 minutes or until it turns aromatic and gets a light golden colour.
- Transfer the peanuts to a bowl and in the same pan add oil and once it turns hot add the mustard seeds and once they pop add chopped onions and saute them for a minute.
- Now add some curry leave and saute for another 2-3 minutes or until the onions get a light golden colour.
- Add turmeric and cook for a minute. Finally, add the roasted peanuts and bloomed poha and gently give it a mix. Don’t over mix else the poha might break.
- Cover it with a lid and cook for 2 minutes on low-medium flame.
- Once done, top it with some fresh coriander and lemon juice and serve hot.

6. Instant Oats Dosa
Healthy, delicious and instant, oats dosa is a nutritious snack that is not only good for your gut, it's also filling.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
- 1/4 cup rice flour
- 1/4 cup Rava (sooji or cream of wheat or semolina)
- 1/2cup Curd (yoghurt)
- 1/4cup finely chopped onion or 1 small onion - finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon finely chopped ginger
- 1 teaspoon finely chopped green chillies
- 1 to 1.5 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
- 7 to 8 curry leaves - finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper - crushed in a mortar-pestle
- 1 to 2 tablespoon grated coconut optional
- 1.25 cups water or add as required
- Salt as required
- Oil or ghee or butter for preparing dosa
Steps
- Grind the cooking oats in fine flour and add 1/4 cup rice flour, 1/4 cup rava/sooji, 1/2 cup fresh curd and 1 cup water.
- Stir and mix to a smooth consistency without any lumps.

Add finely chopped onion, finely chopped ginger, finely chopped green chillies, chopped coriander leaves and curry leaves, finely chopped as instructed.

Stir very well again and then add tsp cumin seeds, black pepper, crushed in a mortar-pestle, salt as instructed. Stir again.

On a medium flame heat a non-stick pan and drizzle 1/2 tsp of oil and spread.

Stir the batter, take a ladle full of batter and pour it from the circumference to the centre.

Once the base becomes crisp and golden, flip and cook the other side.
- Serve hot with coconut or green chutney and enjoy!
7. Watermelon Olive & Feta Salad
Here's a fruit turned into a delectable summer salad you can have around the clock. It will hydrate your body and keep unhealthy ingredients at bay. It's a quick healthy snack that takes only 10 minutes to get ready.

- 1 medium watermelon
- 8-10 pitted black olives
- 2 tablespoons feta cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves (for dressing)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- A pinch of crushed black peppercorns
- 6-7 fresh oregano sprigs
- Chopped 6-7 fresh parsley sprigs
- Chopped 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

- 2 slices brown bread
- 1 handful mint leaves
- 2 pinches salt
- 1 small tomato
- 1 medium boiled potato
- 1/4 teaspoon chaat masala
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 handful coriander leaves
- 2 green chilli
- 1 medium cucumber
- 1 small onion
- 2 tablespoon butter
- 2 wedges of cheddar cheese
Steps
- Slice the veggies in round slices.
- Trim the bread from all sides and apply butter on one bread, then apply the green chutney all over.
- Place the cucumber, tomato, onion slices over the bread slice along with the potato slice.
- Sprinkle salt over the veggies along with chaat masala. Spread the grated cheese over it and cover this slice with the other slice.
- Grill the sandwich for around 2-3 minutes. Once done, cut into pieces and serve hot.
13. Ramly Burger
Try not to judge the dish by its name because you are about to witness something remarkable. Once smitten by Ramly burger, there's no going back. A real gem in the cooking world and heaven-made for clumsy chefs like myself.

- Maggi double pack
- 1 tablespoon Olive oil
- 1 teaspoon grated Garlic
- 1 cup Chopped Veggies (capsicum, bell peppers, onion)

- In a non-stick pan heat the oil and fry the grated garlic for a minute and add basil leaves.

17. Crispy Corn

- 2 cup sweet corn
- 2 tbsp Cornflour/corn starch
- 2 tbsp All-Purpose Flour (maida)
- 2 tbsp rice flour
- Salt to taste

It's a classic leftover bread recipe. Being a Punjabi I've learnt to make do with stuff I have in my panty. But to my surprise, this turned out pretty darn great.

- 2 tsp butter
- 2 clove garlic (finely chopped)
- 1 chilli (slit)
- 2 tbsp spring onion (finely chopped)
- 1/2 onion (finely chopped)
- 1/2 carrot (finely chopped)
- 2 tbsp cabbage (finely chopped)
- 2 tbsp capsicum (finely chopped)
- 2 tomato (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp pav bhaji masala
- 1/2 tsp salt

Steps

In a large Kadai heat butter and saute clove garlic, chilli, tbsp spring onion and onion as per instructions.

Add vegetables, 2 tomatoes and 1/4 tsp salt. Saute well.

Add 1 tsp pav bhaji masala and 1/4 tsp salt. Saute well.

Furthermore, add 2 tbsp of tomato sauce and mix well.

Now add bread pieces and mix gently.

Finally, add coriander leaves and serve bread masala with hot chai.
19. Bread Fritters
Fire up your gas stove for some yummy bread fritters. This recipe takes only 10 minutes which allows you to spend the rest of your day eating.

Ingredients
- 10 leftover bread slices
- 1/4 cup curds (dahi)
- 1/2 cup grated carrot
- 1/2 cup besan (Bengal gram flour)
- 1 tsp green chilli paste
- 2 tbsp chopped coriander
- Salt to taste
- Oil for greasing & deep-frying
- Green chutney & Tomato ketchup
Steps
- Remove the crust of the bread slices and crumble them into small pieces with your fingers and put them in a deep bowl.
- Add the curds and mix very well using your fingers.
- Add the carrot, besan, green chilli paste, coriander and salt and mix well.
- Add approx. 1/4 cup of water and mix well or till the mixture binds well.
- Divide the mixture into 16 equal portions.
- Grease your palms with a little oil and shape a portion into a round ball in between your palms. Press it lightly in the centre to form a slight depression and put in hot oil in a deep non-stick kadhai.
- Shape 3 more portions and put them in the oil and deep-fry all 4 at a time in a batch on a medium flame till they turn golden brown in colour from all the sides.
- Repeat step 6 to make 12 more balls in 3 more batches. Drain on an absorbent paper and keep aside. Serve immediately with green chutney and tomato ketchup.
20. Carrot Pinwheels
Rich in vitamin A and taste, carrot pinwheel is the perfect snack for evening hunger pangs or midnight cravings. Kids love it and adults love making it.

Ingredients
- 1 cup grated carrot
- 1/4 cup cheese spread
- 2 tsp finely chopped celery
- 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
- Salt
- Freshly ground black pepper powder to taste
- 6 fresh bread slices
Steps
- Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, except the bread slices, and mix well.
- Divide this topping into 6 equal portions and keep aside.
- Trim the edges of each of the bread slice and roll them out thinly using a rolling pin.
- Place a rolled bread slice on a dry, flat surface and spread a portion of the topping evenly over it.
- Carefully lift one end of the bread slice and roll it up tightly till the other end to make a roll.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 to make 5 more pinwheels.
- Cut each pinwheel into 2 equal portions diagonally. Serve immediately.
21. Microwave Potato Chips
Store-bought chips might be great but homemade microwave chips are healthy and delicious. Pair it with garlic or mint dip and you'll be golden.

- 1 Potato
- Salt to taste
- Olive oil
Steps
- On a cutting board, slice the potato into 3 mm slices.
- Dry the potato slices with a paper towel until there is no more moisture.
- Transfer the sliced potatoes to a bowl and coat in olive oil.
- Wipe down a large flat microwavable-safe plate with olive oil to prevent the chips from sticking.
- Place the chips on the plate in an even layer and sprinkle with salt.
- Microwave the chips on high for 6-7 minutes or until the chips just start to brown. When the chips develop some colour, remove them from the microwave and slowly peel them from the plate.
- Repeat this process until all the potato slices are cooked and enjoy!

- 2 tablespoon Sugar
- 2 tablespoon Cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Baking powder
- Pinch of Salt
- 3 tablespoon milk
- 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla essence
- 2 tablespoon Vegetable oil
- Chocolate chunks
Steps
- Take a microwave-safe mug and add flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt and with the help of a fork mix it well.
- Now add milk, vanilla essence and oil in the mixture and stir well. Make a smooth batter out of it.
- Add a few chocolate chunks and stir the batter.
- Micro heat the batter for 1 minute but do keep an eye on it.
- Garnish the outcome with powdered sugar and/or chocolate syrup and the cake is ready.

Ingredients
- 1 slice bread
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
- Banana (sliced)
- Chocolate chip (to taste)
For Topping
- Whipped cream (to taste)

Steps
- Slice bread into cubes.
- In a bowl, add egg, milk, and cocoa powder, and mix.
- In a microwave-safe mug, place half of the cubed bread and desired amount of bananas and chocolate chips.
- Place the rest of the bread and fix-ins and pour the egg mixture into the mug.
- Microwave for 1½ minutes or until the egg is fully cooked.
- Top it off with whipped cream and chocolate syrup.

28. Coconut Barfi

Ingredients
- 2 fresh coconut
- 1 cup condensed milk
- Pistachios
- Green cardamoms powder
- 2 to 3 tbsp ghee
Steps
- Take 2 fresh coconuts, remove the hair of coconuts and use the dry coconut. Peel it, remove the black portion of coconut using a knife. Wash it once and grate it.
- Grind and prepare the coarsely ground powder of these for 5 to 10 seconds.
- Preheat the pan along with 2 tbsp of Ghee and melt it.
- Add 2 cups of desiccated coconuts and roast while continuously stirring it on the medium flame for 5 minutes.
- Add the condensed milk and cook while continuously stirring until it reaches a thick consistency.
- The mixture appears thick so add cardamom powder in it and mix it properly.
- Switch off the flame and set it.
- Spread some ghee on a plate to make it greasy, add the mixture to a plate and spread the mixture evenly.
- Garnish it with the chopped pistachios and press to fix them.
- Mark the cutting areas over it according to your desired size.
- Leave the barfi to set and then separate the pieces.
- The barfi has set and it has cooled down also. 15- Heat the plate for 5 to 10 seconds from the bottom so that pieces can be removed easily.
- The fresh coconut barfi is ready to serve.
29. Dark Chocolate Banana Bite

- 2 cut-up frozen bananas
- 100-200 gms dark chocolate
- 2 tbsp milk
- Chopped almonds
Steps
- Grease a hot pan with some butter and throw the dark chocolate in.
- Let it melt and add 2 tbsp milk.

- Crushed almonds and walnuts
Steps
- Dice your favourite fruits real nice and collect them in a bowl.
- Use apples, bananas, strawberry, grapes, oranges, etc. for the same.
- Empty the fresh cream pack in the bowl and add powdered sugar according to your taste.
