Back when these candies were actually called toffees & we could buy at least 4 of them for a just 1 rupee is the time we really miss. All the 90's kids got to nod over the fact that our childhood memories are filled with Nani ka ghar, summer vacations, flashes of tripping over nothing & still getting hurt, unspeakable incidents and CANDIES or we would prefer the term TOFFEES!!

Now that you have the image of your cute-younger self holding a thousand toffees in each hand, we would like to hit you with a list of the most Millenial candies ever. So hold thy breath & get ready to repeat this phrase "Oh My God, Yes Yes!!" like 12 times.

1. Phantom Cigarette Candy

Smoking is injurious to health. No blog here promotes smoking. Smoking causes cancer!! Yeah, that's for the usual cigarettes, but phantom ones are pretty cool. Even today some of us would prefer these over any other candy. Those were the days when sugar rush was much greater than the tobacco one but what do we know? We were just a bunch of kids who loved candies.

2. Mango Bite

95% of Indian kids unambiguously loves mangoes (Yeah we made that up, but it's correct), and for a population who is so much into the king of fruits, Mango Bite was the ultimate candy. You'd never say No!! to Mango Bite even if you are having an actual mango on the side. Remember how these were the most popular birthday toffees back then? Missing your childhood already?

3. Gold Coin Chocolates

No actual gold coin could surpass the kind of richness we felt when we had some of these chocolates in our hands. The gold foil looked so convincing to the kids like us that we'd sometimes buy it just to look cool. Although we had the added pleasure of hogging onto some "fit for a king" chocolate at the end of our show-off sessions.

4. Swad-e-Hind

Originally manufactured as a digestive drop but finally became popular among the 90s or even 80s kids due to its kicky flavour. The tinge of sharpness this candy has is unmatchable & imagine what our digestive system might have looked like when we used to gulp two or three of these just like that. You better ask your moms about it, right now.

5. KisMi Bar

Do you remember the advertisement for this particular toffee? If not go ahead watch it before the doomsday destroys the sweet-sweet memory of our childhood. It looks like a big deal now but this was the most 90's childhood candy of all times. The way it used to leave the sticky chunks even after the whole toffee was over is the kind of long-term commitment we really need today.

6. Polo Rings

Close your eyes & imagine that there's a hole & minty goodness in your toffee, which candy will it be? Of course, you'd recognize this tornado of freshness in a heartbeat. We never popped polos for the sole purpose of clearing out our bad breaths, we just had it because we liked it. Now that we come to realize, we were really disturbed kids with a weird taste for candies. Anyway, we are sure you don't regret playing with the polos just like us!

7. Coffy Bite

Lotte was one of the most thoughtful brands of our time. Do you know why? It's very simple, they knew that as we grow up & literally push our bodies towards the corporate world we will not survive without actual coffee. So they introduced Coffy Bite to accustom our 90's very Indian taste buds with the caffeinated-miracle called coffee. And here we are, 20 or so years later, gulping down a thousand cups of coffee every day only because we used to love Coffy Bite in our childhood.

8. Hajmola Candies

"Agar Aaj Bhi Hajmola Candy Kha Rahe Ho, Toh Zinda Ho Tum" and we mean this literally. Come on, how can this be possible that even today when you go to the local confectionary store & the old guy sitting behind the counter hands you these Hajmolas because he doesn't have change? If this isn't happening to you, please help yourself with just the imagination of Hajmola's chatkara taste on your grown-up tongue.

9. Maha Lacto Candy

You just can't find this candy anymore, in fact, it just disappeared as we grew up. Although if you can still feel the sweet crunchy-sticky crumbles rolling in your mouth, your childhood did go right. For the kids who weren't such a fan of too much sugariness, who are we kidding? Everyone loved sweet candies, especially this one. If you took the whole packet in your school to celebrate your birthday then you are a true 90's kid.

10. Pan Pasand Gold

What makes your tongue go bloody red as if you've devoured the whole pan yourself? Yes, the correct answer is Pan Pasand Gold Candy. And do you know the best part of this yum-yum treat? You can still find it in some pan shops or confectionary stores. Now the little 90's kid you have within you will always be happy because this candy is the proof that your childhood is not over yet.

11. Poppins

Every drop of the Poppins pack is like a gentle throwback to your 90's childhood, where you could be any colour of the rainbow but you still loved all the other ones because of this colourful packet. Are we right? Or are we absolutely right? We just never hated any Poppin candy because each of them reminded us of a particular fruit but we did save the best ones for the last.

12. Melody

"Ye Melody Itni Chocolatey Kyun Hai? Melody Khao, Khud Jaan Jao" Whatever happened to our curiosity of finding out the answer to this question. Even though it is one of our childhood candy but the kid in us can never just toss a Melody candy and not ask this question (even if not out loud). Imagine, this is the kind of impact our childhood candies have on us.

If you ever find any of these candies just don't hesitate to buy one. And do not forget to show your future kids your piece of the 90s with little pieces of these candies. Our childhood days are long gone but that doesn't mean we can't revisit the happy memories of sharing candies & chocolates with our friends.
